My Role in a Production: I undertook the role of film editor in unit 46, this was a production where I edited together the promo for a film called Silent Captive. I had to use my knowledge and experience on editing software, specifically Adobe Premiere Pro, which is what I normally use. Evidence of being film editor: These are all the contributions I had made, as my role of film editor, to the promo we were making for the film Silent Captive. Storyboards: The first thing I did as a film editor was partly contributed towards the storyboards, these were done by another group member, but I helped with the edit choices on them, as this would give me a clear idea of what they would want in the future when I'm actually editing the shots together. Here are some examples: For this storyboard I had chosen to go with the editing technique 'dip to black', reffered to as 'fade to black' in the storyboard. This was chosen to be used as it would fit in well with the...

Film Editor: The film editor is the production role within the film production industry that I have chosen, it takes on several responsibilities and mostly relies on practical production and creativity. The key responsibility of this role is to take the footage recorded by the production team and develop a film with a strong narrative structure that has been put together with the editors technical skills with the software they use i.e. Adobe Premiere Pro. I have had experience in this role multiple times in several units, these being units 46, 41 and 18. Unit 46 was where I had edited together the audio-visual promotion a film, in 41 I had helped edit and put together a short film and then in 18 I had edited the trailer to go with unit 41's short film called Silent Captive.  Written Communication: When it comes to written communication, the film editor would usually communicate over E-mails if the client or the product manager is not there in the editing suite. They would typ...

The Screen Writer: The Screen Writer's key role and responsibility in the pre-production stage of the film is to produce a screenplay for the film. They make sure that it can give the director, producer and many of the other cast and crew an idea of how to have a creative input in the film. The main goal of the screenplay is to allow any viewer of the screenplay script to imagine how the film will work on screen and formated in the conventional style of a screenplay. Multiple screen writers can work on one screenplay to create a satisfactory final product that could be financed and bought to life. The screen writer do not need much equipment to create a screenplay, they would only really need a computer, a writing document software such as Microsoft Word and a printer to create physical copies of the screenplay. To be a screen writer, the main skill you would need is a deep understanding of not just english grammar, but also story, plot and narrative and how to struct...
